For Reviewers

Wanted Reviewers in every field we cover

Help dissenting science get the fair hearing it deserves

Papers that criticize mainstream science are routinely turned away without being read. This journal reads them, and it needs knowledgeable people to judge them honestly.

What a reviewer does

You read a submitted paper in your area and tell the editors whether its argument holds up. You don't need to agree with the conclusion. We ask only whether the reasoning is sound and the evidence is sufficient for the claim being made. Your report helps the editor decide, and it helps the author improve the paper.

  • Judge the argument, not the conclusion Is the central claim clearly stated? Are the derivations shown? Are measurements given with their uncertainty? Does the paper deal honestly with the evidence against it?
  • Double-anonymous review Authors don't learn who reviewed their paper, and reviewers don't see who wrote it. Your identity stays confidential.
  • Only papers you are qualified for Editors invite you to review papers that match the interests you list. You can decline any invitation, for any reason.
  • A reasonable timescale You have up to four weeks to reply to an invitation and four weeks to complete a review.

Who we are looking for

We need reviewers in physics, cosmology, astrophysics, electrodynamics, plasma physics, engineering, the earth sciences and the philosophy of science. Formal credentials help, but what matters most is real expertise and a willingness to read a dissenting paper carefully and fairly. Some of the best critical work in this community comes from engineers and independent researchers.

A special plea

Teachers and professors: we especially need you

What you get

  • An early look at original work that questions established theory.
  • A part in building a journal that judges papers on their merits.
  • If you wish, a listing with your photo and short biography on our public Reviewers page. Listing never reveals which papers you reviewed.
